...about our family and our life. We are four strong now trying to live our dreams.

Madeleine's Baby Blessing-13-2

Little Madeleine was blessed by her father on April 20, 2008. Some of the things she was blessed with are:

  • That she would have a strong understanding of her divine heritage;
  • That she would be immune from the influences of the world, especially when the world tells her that she's not good enough;
  • That she would receive strength from her family, friends, and the gospel and know that she is a daughter of God;
  • That she'd have a desire to make sacred covenants, including baptism and a temple marriage;
  • That she would receive guidance from the Spirit when studying the scriptures, praying, and being kind to others;
  • That she would have a kind disposition and help others feel like the children of God that they are.

Wow! What a beautiful blessing! She's so loved by her Father in Heaven and her family. We're thankful for all the relatives who came to the blessing and supported us in this important event. We love you all.

Here are some pictures of her and her cousin, Joseph, who is 8 days older.

Twitter?

Anyone else use twitter?  My twitter ID is rob_neige if any of you want to follow me.  Check out the twitter FAQ for a description of what twitter is, how to "follow", and to see if you might like it.  If you look in the sidebar you can see a few of my latest "tweets."  :)

Anyone want to walk around downtown SLC next Saturday for about an hour and take pictures?  I'm pretty sure that we can get some babysitters so we can both come.  Any takers?

Here is a good one that Julie took last year for some inspiration!

This has to be one of the funniest things I have seen.  Truly some of the worst album art I have ever, ever, ever seen.  Enjoy!

I passed!!!

I passed my thesis defense this morning!!! I did a pretty good job and was able to answer the tough and meaty questions they fired at me. They didn't make me sweat too much which I appreciated a lot. Anyway, the hard part is over.

The Fateful Day

So I defend my thesis tomorrow.  I have a hour presentation to my committee on the research that I've been working on the last 2 years.  After I've presented and they've finished asking questions they'll ask me to leave the room and then decide if I have to do more work or if I can graduate.  I feel pretty confident but still, Yikes!  Stay tuned for the results!

The Bad Astronomer posted some info about a really cool side project of the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter.

"The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter is NASA’s next big mission to the Moon, and it will launch later this year. It carries an interesting suite of equipment: a camera that will have 50 cm resolution on the surface of the Moon (I’m hoping for Apollo rover shots!), a laser altimeter for mapping the lunar topology, a radiation detector to map out the radiation environment of the Moon, and more.

But there’s something else it can carry as well: your name. NASA is putting a microchip onboard LRO that will contain the names of anyone who submits them. Send them your own, or a relative, or someone you’re trying to impress."

That is such a cool idea and I just had to share!!!  I signed the whole family up and you can see our certificates here on Flickr.  I also included my certificate below.

Karen Hymas Baby Shower 2008-4

This last Saturday was my little sister's baby shower. Her daughter is due June 27th. We all had a good time visiting and "ooohing and ahhhing" over cute little girl clothes. My mom did such a great job (as usual) putting things together and it all looked great. Congrats to Karen and Jake!

If anyone would like to try the Adobe Lightroom 2.0 Beta (professional photo editing and workflow productivity software) until the end of August please let me know and I will send you an invite so you can participate in the Beta.  It is awesome software and this is a good opportunity to try it.

I-15 and Construction

I'm quite distressed about the safety proceedures for the lane expansion project between Farmington and Layton. I drive that stretch of the highway every day and I believe that it is a serious danger to the workers and the public. Jersey barriers or some other type of concrete barriers are typically placed between the work area and traffic flow to protect the workers. The only protection that these workers receice is a long row of hollow orange drums spaced some 50 feet apart. The work area comes right up to the shoulder creating a situation that is both very distracting to drivers and life threatening for construction workers.
I am both shocked and disappointed that UDOT would approve that safety plan. I urge both UDOT and the contractor to remedy the situation and improve the safety of everyone that works and travels in that area.
